I connected with this book right from the first sentence... My kids are twice exceptional as well... I feel better knowing that there are other people out there who are struggling with the same issues involving behavior and how to handle people who believe "it is just bad behavior" or that they can discipline them in the same manner as other children, who do not have these issues... This is good reading for both parents who have kids with ADHD and those without. There are many things in here that parents can use, all parents.....I liked the 5 principles.... Good stuff!

I LOVE the approach -- I have read tons and tons of "How to" books -- so far, this one is starting out completely different! If I were looking at this in a book store, I would pursue it further, just based on the foreward.
Believe me, I have tossed many books aside based on the foreward!
Just starting out -- I love the brief synopsis of the five points you are
making! This gets me excited to read further! Also, I already am finding myself intrigued -- especially by the first one! The one thing I can NEVER find on ADHD/special needs "help" books is how to determine what is just a child and typical childish behavior and what are the struggles particular to the disorder! I have 2 children diagnosed with special needs and a 3rd who is only 3, but takes after his brother and sister! Like I said -- I have read a TON of books on these topics!
Well, overall, this is AWESOME! I meant to read it over a few days, and just couldn't stop once I started! I will have to start tomorrow morning with a new approach to my children.
We see a family counselor who has been challenging me with much of what you mentioned in this book! He once asked me to set aside all the labels and just see my son as a boy who is ten. I told him I didn't know how! The "labels" honestly have settled into my very being -- the labels "define" my children, even in my own mind! This just helps me break out of that "comfortable" mold yet again!
I am SO glad I had the opportunity to read this book!
